I briefly considered writing a movie review seven years too late but it’s not the film itself that I ended up engaging with but impressions that the movie may evince or that at least we easily infer given our modern western frame. Steven D. Greydanus movie review put it nicely, “Silence tells no one exactly what they want to hear, except those who can hear nothing else.” ... For more infomation visit:

WHAT WE'RE READING, LISTENING TO, AND WATCHINGEdifying content that has deeply informed our work this season - The Messiah We Don't Ask For explores the paradox of Jesus' confrontational approach, contrasting societal expectations of a Messiah with his message of suffering, death, and resurrection, ultimately challenging us to embrace a meaingful life over conventional niceness. - Forgiveness in Genesis: Another kind of vision by Marilynne Robinson is a moving essay that delves into the transformative power of forgiveness and the fulfillment of divine promises amid human frailty and suffering. - We Are Repaganizing, Louise Perry examines the clash between Christian morality and pagan ethics, particularly regarding issues like sexism and human rights, arguing for the continued importance of Christian values in protecting the vulnerable. - Learn Where to Look for God's Kingdom • Sermon on the Mount (Episode 1) is an excellent animated offering by the Bible Project on the essential teachings of Jesus. Definitely keep up with this series! - Body of Proof: The 7 Best Reasons to Believe in the Resurrection of Jesus--and Why It Matters Dr. Jeremiah Johnston explores the profound significance of Jesus' resurrection, offering seven compelling reasons supported by evidence. We'll be reading this book for our Parish Book Study in Eastertide so pick it up and join us! |
