Faith Foundation
Lent: a spiritual detox for your soul, where we trade in excess for introspection, and fast-paced living for a mindful journey, all centered on the love of Jesus. During Lent, we'll journey through our new teaching series "Faith Foundation" where we'll trace and deepen our trust in the promises of God as revealed in the Old Testament and fulfilled in Jesus Christ. Join us as we uncover the rich tapestry of the promises of God and draw closer to the transformative love of our Savior. Celebrant:

WHAT WE'RE READING, LISTENING TO, AND WATCHINGEdifying content that has deeply informed our work this season - The Christian Revolution: why the cross changed the world Justin and historian Tom Holland discuss how early Christian beliefs, initially deemed "foolish" by the Greco-Roman world, ultimately catalyzed societal transformations towards valuing human life, equality, and compassion. - Finding God in Punk Anarchism Lake Smith delves into the provocative fusion of punk ideology, anarchism, and Christian theology, examining the transformative potential inherent in challenging societal norms by following Jesus. - The Meaning Crisis: Why we're all religious deep down is an excellent podcast that canvases how the West grapples with a mental health crisis potentially rooted in an identity crisis, exploring the possibility of the Christian narrative offering answers in this examination of the Meaning Crisis through discussions with thinkers, psychologists, and converts. - Religion’s Relationship to Happiness, Civic Engagement and Health Around the World is research showing that active religious engagement is linked to greater happiness, civic participation, and improved health globally, according to a 2019 Pew Research study. The Church in an Age of Secular Mysticisms: Why Spiritualities without God Fail to Transform Us is Andrew Root's latest book in which he contrasts contemporary spiritualities with authentic Christian transformation, highlighting the pitfalls of self-centered mysticisms and offering a theology of the cross as a path for genuine spiritual development. |
