Another Scam Alert
Good afternoon church family, I've just received a fake email pretending to be Rev. Howard and I'm worried that likely you've received these fake emails too. These fake emails pretend to come from clergy asking for help and insisting you only communicate via email. If you reply, the scammers then ask for amazon gift cards to help him in his difficult situation. Just a reminder that Rev. Howard or Rev. Seth will NEVER send emails asking for - gift cards - gift card codes sent via photograph - your credit card numbers. These fraudulent emails often ask the recipient to not call the clergy, since calling us would reveal that the emails are scams. I've attached a screenshot of the email I received highlighting the fake email hiding as an email from Rev. Howard's church email. Let's be diligent and careful not to fall prey to these scammers. Report and block these emails if possible. If you receive an email from any clergy making a direct appeal for gift cards or any money, best practice is to confirm the details with the clergy by phone prior to sending any gift cards or money. If you do receive these fake emails, report them and block sender. - Rev. Seth Enriquez |
